I've been obsessed with golf for most of my life. I played university golf at the University of St Andrews — the home of golf — where I studied on a golf scholarship, and I currently play off a +2 handicap. In 2024 I won my club championship and reached a county championship final.

Away from the course, my background is in data. I work in Python and build web applications, and I'm the creator of GolfOptimise, a golf performance analytics platform that turns golfers' shot data into strokes-gained insights — the same kind of analysis tour players pay hundreds of pounds a year for.

Why I built GolfMembershipFinder

When golfers look for a club to join, the first question is nearly always the same: "how much is membership?" — and it's remarkably hard to answer. Many clubs don't publish prices, and comparing options means hours of phone calls and buried PDF price lists. That never sat right with me, so I combined the two things I know best — golf and data — and built a site that does the legwork for you.

Today GolfMembershipFinder is the UK's largest golf membership comparison site, with over 2,000 clubs listed and more than 18,000 membership prices tracked across England and Scotland. I research and maintain the data myself, and club managers can claim their club to keep prices, photos and facilities up to date. The site is free for golfers, and enquiring with a club through it is free for clubs too.
